Boo! I Scare Cancer

Noah was diagnosed with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia (ALL) in the fall of 2007 when he
was 5 years old. After his diagnoses he was immediately sent to The Children’s Hospital in
Aurora, Colorado, to begin what would be a 3½ year regiment of medications and
chemotherapy. That first week was tough on Noah because as sick as he was he still had to go through
several surgical treatments. The first was to install a titanium port in his chest where chemo
drugs could be administered and from which blood could be taken. Several other surgeries were
done to remove bone marrow from his hip. Noah’s parents don’t remember him smiling a single
time that first week.
Since that time, Noah and his family have seen an outpouring of love and support from friends,
families, charities, and even complete strangers. These experiences made them very
aware of the opportunities there are for all of us to help one another. When Noah was 8 years
old, he and his family decided that it was time to give something back to all those who
helped him by helping other children who were also battling childhood cancer. So, last year he
and his family hosted several garage sales and he designed his, “Boo! I Scare Cancer!”
t-shirts in order to raise money for The Children’s Hospital. These t-shirts can be ordered at
www.boo4cancer.org. This site is dedicated to both raising awareness of childhood cancer,
and giving others the opportunity to make a difference in the lives of the children who must
fight this terrible disease.
We are grateful to Wimmer Roofing for allowing us to be a part of their fundraiser this year.
Noah is now 9½ years old, he completed his cancer treatments and his titanium port was removed in January 2011.
